The Official Launch of TayaIT Arabic Web Search

Aug 6th ... the day me and the rest of the company anticipate ... its the day where our Arabic web search engine is finally launched and our marketing and publicity for it commences :)

It's 5 days away from that day and I am excited as never before ... it'll be my 1st project that I've worked on and project managed in a big company like Taya and for it to go live with this type of propaganda :)

This will be the 1st milestone of my career in developing into the direction that I've always planned for ... and that I'd like to thank some people for standing there for me and being supportive which are:

Salman Suhail - for working side by side with me in getting thru all the obsticles we faced in making this happen... dude we did it man :) we should be damn proud of ourselves and know that we can do anything we want no matter what life/work throws in our path ;)

Farzina Alam - for being the my support whenever I feel that things are starting to get to me because of work ... thanks for putting up with me :) ... u've done soo much without u not even knowing :)

Heba Zaghloul - for being the cooperative intern under me ... heba if it wasn't for u things wud've been done later than expected ... wish we can work together sometime soon :)... will be missin ya when u leave.

And everyone else who has been supportive and giving me feedback on the beta versions so far :) ... I really appreciate it.

For those who didn't see the work that we've done so far go to http://beta.tayait.com and if anyone has any feedback before launch please don't hesitate :)

Lost in work

Today I was reviewing some code with one of my developers because he had a serious problem when he was trying to display some data onto a test page, I had to spend about 2 hours just looking at his code to finally realize that he had gone calling by reference and dealing with it as if he was calling by value ... which for whoever is reading this and is not a coder means it's a big problem ... I felt that i was so stupid not to figure that out right away instead of tracing/debugging and trying different code blocks and data structures :( ... I feel so embarrassed, the dude came up to me as his team leader and was like "I don't know whats wrong, can you help me?" and I was lost in it for all that time for to figure that the problem was that ... I wonder what does he think of me now that it took me that much time to figure that obvious problem out?? :(

Aside from that, Me and Salman were brainstorming on some new ideas for about an hour ... I felt good after that cuz i had so much input for him, not to mention that he liked ALOT of what i said.

New Job, New Opportunity

So to get you guys updated on whats been going on for the past month, I've recently started working as a Team Leader and Software Developer in this IT firm called "Taya IT".

This company has so much potential from the way I see it in terms of growth because its serving the middle east with services that no other company has thought about before... where it's providing the 1st real-time Arabic search engine that can finally return accurate results for it's users and parse the search definition into related derivatives of the word.

What I'm doing here is basically Project Management and development along with keeping a small team of developers together and working at full capacity, my part in that team for now is basically doing all the complex thinking and algorithm implementations along with architecture and modular design of an Advertisement Service that will be added on to the company's search engine web page to return specific advertisements to related searched keywords.

it's a really fun job, and this is exactly what I've always wanted to do :)

wish me luck :)

Working in Amideast

ok so it's been almost 3 weeks since i start working here in amideast which is really cool since the working environment is soo cool and not to mention the people over here at work are very cool !!
so i started off working in the ITOS department(stands for information technology and office systems) but i didn't know my title back then ... but after the 1st week i finally knew exactly what am doing here when Doaa my boss said that my title will be the networks system administrator ... which kinda sounds cool as well too :D:D ... basically what am doing over here is maintaining all the computers over here in the amideast office ... assisting and supporting users for optimized experience, troubleshooting, and last but not least setting up back ups to the main server and at some points administering it as well... but I've recently was able to get involved into the programming aspects of this job where they have a special part of the ITOS dept. to develop software specifically for the use of the field offices here in the middle east as well as the HQ back in washington DC.

I just love it here ... but only if i had more work to I wud've felt that this job is PERFECTO ... but hell it's still cool so am not complaining !!
